We are now in a place called Hope, BC a few hours out of Vancouver. Canmore was nice. I did not meet ‘Mike’. We walked around at the Canmore Nordic Centre (where the 88 olympic nordic events were held) and then had some fantastic Alberta Striploin steaks. Today we drove up to Lake Louise and walked around the Chateau. We drove straight through to Camloops for dinner and down to Hope where we are now.
Tomorrow we are off to Victoria to meet the rest of th hikers.
I will work on pictures. May not happen until I get home. I’m not sure when I will have internet access again.

This weekend we got 56 cm of snow, bringing the total for the winter so far to 411 cm. I’d say it’s piled up about 150cm at the moment and the pile at the end of our driveway is likely 350-400 cm high (thats almost twice my height). And supposedly it isn’t over yet.
Here are some pictures of shovelling and playing in the snow.

For my birthday Jessie got me tickets to a Canadiens game at the Centre Bell in Montreal against the Rangers (Feb. 19, 2008).
We drove up to Montreal and found our seats way up in section 419. It didn’t matter that we were way up near the back and the press box blocked our view of most of the crowd and the main scoreboard. We could see the ice (and the private 400 section scoreboard), and that was all that mattered. It was us and just 21271 other people.
Carey Price started in net for the Habs and Tom Kostopolous wasn’t playing
. The rangers lit up Price for 3 goals on 11 shots and Huet took over only to let in two more goals (I was calling for Price to come back). Half way through the game and it was 5-0 for the Rangers. Some first game at the Bell Centre. There was a fight and several bad calls (and non-calls) and the fans were getting rowdy.
With about 8 minutes left in the second the crowd cheered as Ryder spoiled the Ranger shut-out, then again when he lit the light later in the period. A couple bad calls against Kovalev and the fans threw their “Fanbana” banners on the ice. The third period wrapped up down 5-2. It didn’t look promising.
The third period was about 6 minutes old when Kovalev squeaked past Lundquist and, riding on the energy of the crowd, 19 seconds later Ryder put one of Streit’s leg and in. The near hat trick sent the crowd into a frenzy. On the power play with about 4 minutes left Kovalev potted his second of the game to tie it up at 5 and send the game to OOOOOOOOOVERTIME!!!!! We were on our feet for a thrilling back and forth OT period that couldn’t solve anything. Huet was solid in the shoot out and Koivu scored the only shoot out goal to cement the biggest comeback in the Habs 99 year history.
It was ridiculous. It was the best hockey game I have ever seen. What an amazing birthday present. All day today I could hear the “Ole. ole. ole.” chant in my head.
Here are all of the pictures!

We moved to a new house this weekend and yesterday got a puppy. It has been crazy. The dog is a female Siberian Husky named Logan.
The first day was a little crazy. She was very sad and hated the leash. She did meet a couple other dogs, with mixed results. Thanks to some earplugs I actually got some sleep, but no one else did. Day 2 has been better. She has mastered the stairs and isn’t crying as much. She has gone on a few walks and always draws a lot of attention.
Here are the pictures from day 1.

Pete, Katrina and I drove down to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for the long weekend to visit Ben and Courtney in their new house. Justin flew down and met us there.
The ride down took about 15 hours and was good except for the Nova Scotia stretch where it was pouring rain. We each took turns driving, and it really
wasn’t as bad as it sounds. That night we just hung out and BBQ’d some pizza. “It’s my face that’s burning.” Oh and how can I forget the Intrepid?
On day 1 we walked around Lunenburg. The Bluenose II was there, so we walked around on that and just checked out the town, then had a nap before heading over to Ben’s parents place in Riverport for dinner. At night we stayed in for the most part (Bon Jovi anyone?), with the exception of a late night trip to J^3 pizza. “Here’s to Courtney.” Day 1 Pictures.
After a late start on Day 2 we went to Peggy’s Cove and the Swiss Air 11 Memorial sight. It was the 9th anniversary of the crash. We followed the blind guy down to the shore and played on the rocks. Never follow a blind guy through a bog. You will lose your shoes. We went to Halifax and checked out the Keith’s Brewery tour. It was alright. We didn’t get to spend too much time in the ‘fax, so I guess I will have to go back again. We did get to see Theodore the Tugboat for a couple seconds. Day 2 Pictures.
Day 3 was beach day. The water was cold, but it was fun to swim in the Ocean. I haven’t done that since I was 16. We played some football, and I got buried in the sand. We went to Courtney’s parent’s place in Bridgewater for Dinner. That night we went to The Knot pub (Do you have any
Journey?). This is one of the few bars in the city, it was dead that night, but we did meet some fishermen who told us about life on the boat. It was a pretty good night, even if Ben paid for it in the end. Day 3 Pictures.
Day 4 was a lazy day. Ben took us on a tour of his factory, then we went across the bay to get a good view of the town. The pictures are real, I swear I was not pasted on. Day 4 Pictures.
The drive home was good. Watched a bunch of Coupling on my laptop. It was a good trip.
