I uploaded my Munich pictures a few days ago, and realized I forgot to make a new post.
The day I got there it was raining and not very nice, but I still went for a walk around the old city. The rain started to let up later on, so that was nice. At night a group from the hostel went out to a couple bars. It was fun and I met people from all over the world. Australia, US, Brazil, Scotland, Germany, …
On the second day a friend from the place where I am living in Innsbruck, Federica, was in Munich, so we hung out and went around to see everything. We saw the Glockenspiel first. Unfortunately the tower around it is being cleaned, so that took away a little bit. Also, it is really quite boring after a few seconds, and it goes for 15 minutes. I didn’t stay for the whole thing. We walked around the old city a little bit to see everything in the sun, and then headed out to the Olympia Park. We went up the tower there and got a great
view of the city (and the BMW factory). The buildings in the Olympia park are very cool and are supposed to look like dew on a spider web. After that, we went to the Engisher garden, which is a huge park in the city. It was very nice. For dinner we went to the famously touristy Hofbrauhaus for some BIG beers and really good food.
I started day 3 with a typical Bavarian breakfast of Weisswurst (white sausage), a pretzl and a Weissbier. It was quite good. I then went to the Deutsches Museum, which is a HUGE science and technology museum with lots of interactive displays. If you spend one minute at each exhibit, you would be there for 8 days. I tried to see as much as I could, and I was exhausted by the end. For dinner I went to the Augistinerbrau, which is another beer hall, but one where the locals visit. It was great fun since the local football team won their game that day and the hooligans we singing and dancing. I met a group of Germans there and they took me to the Augustiner Beer garden,
which is a huge outdoor patio type place with thousands and thousands of people. It was fantastic.
Before I came home on the last day, I went to the Dachau Concentration camp. It was very strange to see this type of place outside of a movie or documentary, and it really makes everything feel more real. It is a very sad place, but I am glad that I went.
Anyways, Here are the pictures:
