FingerThe finger command either gives a list of who is logged on, or gives information about a user or users.
Example #1 - List of users :
lager 8:35pm {0}[~] finger Login Name Tty Idle Login Time Office Office Phone abeattie Alex Beattie *p3 1:54 Jul 30 18:54 (ccs-annex3.carle) adevries Alex deVries p2 54 Jul 30 13:08 (neon.ingenia.ca) albin Albin Wu *pb 2:52 Jul 30 17:56 (ccs-annex7.carle) bross Brian Ross q5 39 Jul 30 20:09 (ccs-annex4.carle) cb Mark Seaby pa Jul 30 20:39 (beach.pal.engsoc) cellison Chris Ellison *p8 Jul 30 20:21 (ccs-annex3.carle) . . . The '*' in the Tty column indicate that the user has his messages turned off. If you specify a name, finger will search for people who's user id or name match, and show information about them.
